My first thought about a Quantum birth team occurred to me after a practice session during a Level II workshop. I inwardly prayed for a Doula (a holistic birth attendant) that would join me during the birth. I prayed for a Doula that was highly skilled, extremely spiritual, open to the highest possibilities, held a similar world view to me and with healing skills – preferably QT!

Just a simple request 🙂

That night after the workshop ended I attended a BBQ. No one knew I was pregnant at that time as it was before 12 weeks. A friend of a friend randomly came up to me and said “I have something for you that I think you will like, I will forward it to you now.” and walked away. I opened my email and read about a workshop being hosted by Serene Birthing. I quickly read about Serene Birthing and discovered it was comprised of two doulas who ticked all my boxes. Several conversations later and I was booked in with Ora to learn about birth from a spiritual perspective and had arranged with Charlotte that she would attend my birth. And…they would also both be learning QT. What more could I ask for?

My prayer was answered above and beyond what I could have wished for. Both Ora and Charlotte were so instrumental in our experience. Their understanding of the entire process and all the levels of reality contained within it is phenomenal. I am so grateful to Ora for preparing us mentally and emotionally for the birth. I was captivated by her approach…

Charlotte held a space during the labour and birth that was second to none. She is simply a sensational Doula with a depth of medical, holistic and healing knowledge that allowed me to completely surrender in her company. I wish everyone could have a Charlotte with them during birth! Thank you to you both for being more than I could have dreamed of in holding such a high space for us..I know we will continue to share and that this is the beginning of a beautiful connection.

Insight:  

I was more concerned about being in a hospital than the birth itself. Ora reminded me that the hospital was an aspect of the universe. To embrace it with love and remember that above all else, our creator/the universe is in charge. Shift above whatever it is you are scared of and always relate only to source. Everything else is directed from that place. This foundation is essential and I remind myself of it as much as possible in life. It is from that place that we see miracles.

Charlotte’s ability to remain steady in any circumstance kept the energy steady including the baby’s heartbeat. Like Ora, Charlotte’s faith operates from a space that allows for miracles. We naturally entrained to this and the hospital was at the back of our minds rather than any type of main focus. Bring in the presence of a calm energy has the power to transform outcomes.

Distance Doula-ing

As you know I like to think outside the box and so asked Jennifer (COO) of Quantum Touch to recommend a QT Doula that could send me healing during the labour. She recommended Kim Luchau who is based in Hawaii and trains all the Doula’s on the island in QT. Perfect!

Kim and I exchanged QT over skype several times and developed a soulful connection instantly. Kim told me that when the Dalai Lama came to Hawai‘i in 1994 he told his tour guides the two places he wanted to visit on Kaua‘i were Polihale and Anahola. Because Polihale is the place where souls leave for the next world and Anahola is where souls enter the earth. ‘Ane’ means ‘the breath of life,’ ‘Hola’ means ‘the hour.’ The two words together translate as ‘birth.’

I know that Aytan was connected into this energy through Kim’s presence on the island and her innate ability to connect to babies in utero.

She continued to support me through late pregnancy with Quantum Touch and we had many synchronistic healings. So much wisdom and so many QT blessings were sent through Kim. I recommend that anyone giving birth and wanting a distance Doula contact Kim!

Insight: The right people always show up in our lives. We are all connected and distance is a concept. Kim was able to support me wholly from Hawaii. Remember that energy flows where attention goes. We can all offer our QT gifts from where we are right now.

I would also like to thank Suzanne Newman, a fellow QT instructor from the Isle of Mann for sending distance healing during the birth too. Suzanne and I attended our advanced workshops together several years ago. Who knew we would reconnect through birth. She is an awesome QT Doula practising in the Isle of Mann. What a blessing!

This is pretty cool

Suzanne and I had attended the Supercharging workshop together several years ago. I hadn’t used the techniques for a while. One of the techniques we learned in Supercharging was how to use the U-nan symbol, a technique I hadn’t thought about in years. At 7.19am on 13th January I got a “random” text from my local optician simply saying the word U-nan! She then texted me an hour later saying “Sorry my baby got hold of my phone”. As soon as I received the text from her baby I started using the technique and it helped me stay calm and focused during some intense pre labour moments. I love that a baby I had never met was playing with a phone and sent me the exact technique I needed in that moment. I remember thinking “wow you really can’t make this stuff up!”.

Insight:

Everything you need is always given to you! Just be open and messengers will turn up in the most surprising of places.

Hypnosis

I met Lisa Jennings when I spoke at The Association of Meridian Therapies conference in 2013. Lisa volunteered for a stage demonstration for her back pain which was quickly resolved with QT. We became instant friends and I discovered that Lisa is a highly regarded nutritionist, acupuncturist, hypnotherapist and energy worker. She has worked in many hospitals using her skills and been seeing clients with excellent results for decades. Lisa became my “go to” person for all my nutrition questions and…she recorded 3 brilliant bespoke hypnosis audio files for me. These were amazing…her relaxing voice spoke of a natural birth, included all the aspects I wanted and alleviated any concerns. One of my main concerns was being in a medical establishment as mentioned above. Thankfully I have had very little to do with mainstream medicine for years. Lisa helped me to include the medical team in my awareness through her hypnosis recordings. I was blessed with an incredible midwife at the hospital who let us get on with it and supported us wholly.

I highly recommend Lisa for both nutrition and hypnosis – she has a wealth of knowledge that has helped me massively. Her worldview is also hugely expansive. I am blessed to know Lisa…

Insight:

Lisa fully understands the power of relaxation when giving suggestions to the mind. So much of what we want just requires a subtle shift of relaxing our mind into it. She also plays with language in such a way that any pre conceived ideas are scrambled and reform positively. Our self talk is key – our language directs outcomes.

The birth

After all the preparation the day finally came where I would give birth to Aytan. As we all know a birth can go many ways…regardless of our prep the universe always has a higher plan and the biggest lesson I learned of all…is surrender.

The other lesson I learned was that birth is a very physical experience. Sounds obvious… however for someone that spends most of the day navigating through consciousness using energy techniques, one can become quite estranged to the physical world. Giving birth yanked me quickly into my body in a way that I can only describe as being bigger than me, and bigger than any pre conceived notions of being able to circumvent the physical using any technique! “Why didn’t I attend the yoga classes?” I yelled at myself inwardly during a contraction after realising that the body requires movement too. I then recalled hearing that a woman once gave birth in a coma. This reminded me that the governing forces of nature will always override the physical and the experience is directed from above. What a relief 🙂

I am delighted and blessed to say that I had a natural birth from start to finish with zero medical interventions – including no gas and air. The support I had from my husband Simon and Charlotte throughout the experience was immense. The technique we used most was toning from Level 1 and it seemed to provide what I needed during contractions. The sounds helped to ride the waves and as long as the three of us were in sync with our tones I felt I was having very strong pain relief. It may amuse you to know that two hours of active labour were spent in the hallway as there were no rooms available – the amusing part is that we were toning at full volume in the waiting room of a central London hospital. Luckily it was the middle of the night and we had an empty corner. However the staff must have raised more than one eyebrow!

Aytan arrived at 8.45am on the 14th January and has changed our world ever since.

We had no idea whether we were having a boy or a girl so having a baby boy arrive on the one year anniversary of my Father’s passing was a wonderfully spiritual entrance into our world.

He embodies mindfulness and I am on a fast track phD to learning the true meaning of giving everything over to the universe. There is now another soul in my life who has his own agenda, life tasks and journey. I am honoured to be his guide, however I am certain that it is he who will be my teacher.

We took a few days to name Aytan which means strength. His energy holds a mixture of strength, wisdom and sweetness which I could see as soon as he arrived.

Another messenger

On 30th December Simon’s Father “randomly” texted 3 letters of Aytan’s name to us both. He does not remember sending this and has no idea why he did. This was 2 weeks before we had even thought about a name which we were waiting to do until after the birth. We only realised this after we had named Aytan.

Insight:

The signs are always there!

Post birth

I was blessed to be introduced to Elenora Lawson who provided me with post natal support and is a wonderful Doula. She has an amazingly calm way of conveying knowledge and sharing her expertise in a way that holds true to universal concepts, holistic mothering and balance. Elenora will be attending a QT workshop in the summer which I know will benefit the Mother’s she supports in the future.

Insight:

Elenora taught me that it takes two to tango with parenting. Aytan will have his own ideals and has his own imprint. Creating a space for him to express them is the most natural type of parenting there is…above all else.

She truly completed the Quantum Birth team I was sent and I am eternally grateful for each and every person who contributed to my journey so far.
